Accessibility statement

We want this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard alone, or a magnified display. Part of this site describes a condition that affects learning and communication, so this matters more here than it might elsewhere.

What we have done

We have aimed at the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2, level AA, in how the site is built. Every page has a single main heading and a logical heading order. Text colours have been checked for contrast against their backgrounds: body text is measured at 14.7 to 1, small print at 5.0 to 1, and links and the small headings above page titles at 6.1 to 1, against a required minimum of 4.5 to 1. The site has been navigated with a keyboard alone, with a visible outline following the focus in a sensible order. Line lengths are kept short, the language is kept plain, and nothing moves, flashes or plays automatically.

What we have not done

We want to be straightforward about the limits of that.

The images on this website do not currently carry text alternatives. Someone using a screen reader will not be told what our logo is or where it leads, and will not be told who is shown in the photographs on the team page. The names of the three people appear as text beside their photographs, so that information is not lost, but the logo is a link and its purpose will not be announced.

This website has not had an independent accessibility audit, and we do not claim formal conformance with any standard. We have not tested it with screen reader software, so we cannot say how well it performs with one. Parts of the underlying website platform are outside our control and we cannot guarantee their behaviour. The site has been checked on current versions of common browsers on a computer and a phone, but not on every combination of device and assistive technology.

We review this statement when we change the website, and at least once a year
